As part of the exhibition “BABEL: The Construction of a Ruin with the Scent of Eternity” Inspired by the biblical myth of the Tower of Babel, the series explores the fragility of human works, the quest for transcendence and the constant cycle of construction and decay.
With minimalist lines, reduced color palettes and symbolic elements such as scaffolding, arches and staircases, works are created that hover between past and future, sublimity and decay.

On August 20, 2025, BasementArt by Lichtraum will transform into a workshop for artistic discoveries.
Renowned Uruguayan artist Pedro Peralta invites you to an exclusive workshop that brings the centuries-old technique of xylography – artistic woodcut – to life.

Woodcut is one of the oldest printing techniques in the world. A motif is cut mirror-inverted into a wooden panel, inked, and transferred to paper or fabric. The result is powerful contrasts, fine textures, and a distinctive aesthetic that combines craftsmanship and artistic vision.

Under the guidance of Pedro Peralta, participants have the opportunity to learn tools and techniques, create their own prints, and experience the creative connection between art, architecture, and poetry.

Date: August 20, 2025
Time: 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Location: BasementArt by Lichtraum, Währinger Gürtel 110, 1090 Vienna
