PORTRAITS OF PEOPLE
8 POSITIONS

What is a human being?

What is the true image of a person if the image we have of him is always subjective?
Is it even possible to recognize someone objectively and without judgment?
And is art capable of capturing the true essence of a person in its purest form?

In the exhibition "Images of Humans – 8 Positions, 8 Artists," the participating artists explore the image of humans. They depict them in various situations, capture emotions, and explore their vulnerability as well as their strength.

The aim of this exhibition is to invite the audience to reflect – on the meaning of ideals of beauty, on spirituality, power and powerlessness, as well as on many other central themes of human existence.

The artists lead us through a fascinating exploration of one of the oldest and most important themes in figurative art: humanity itself.

Since time immemorial – in all cultures and eras – humans have depicted themselves. One need only consider cave paintings, which are among the earliest examples of this deeply rooted form of expression. Some of these depictions carry complex symbolism, others simply point to the beauty and mystery of the depicted body.

This exhibition spans the spectrum from abstract stylization to the finest hyperrealism – a dialogue between the visible and the essential, between intimacy and universality.
